The Seoul of an Alien compiles the period  of work in which DoAn Forest lived in Seoul, primarily 2005 and 2006. As a compilation, these videos represent a 2-year period of experimentation and learning. Many of the pieces have little to do with Seoul other than the fact that they were made in a Seoul apartment. In many cases, the pieces have some degree of collaboration -- in all cases, the people involved met DoAn in Seoul. DoAn is grateful to the various artists (mostly fellow ex-pats) who allowed their talents or works to be used in some way, including Jet Echo, Seafran, MakBak, Goldtea, Asah, Ryan Gerard, Paul Kotyk, Youki Cropas, Arleen Sinclair, Matt Lamers, Chen Lie, Jack Quin, Moon Choe, Pepe Delaroza ... (An extended list of thank yous can wait until the official DVD comes out.)
In early 2007, DoAn moved from Seoul to Kamloops, Canada. He still hopes to be involved in the Seoul and Korean arts scene. Inevitably, it would be great to collaborate with more Korean artists. After all, aren’t we all aliens on this planet?
Note: This project is ongoing and growing. Videos are still being added and edited.
